Hi Friends,
This week we covered tales of hope, true stories of people rising from ashes, and conquering trials. I must admit that I truly enjoyed covering these topics and learning from these incidents of the past. Concluding the theme for the week I want to share gyan on facing obstacles.
But before I do that let me share an interesting trivia of how a disease shaped history. In early 1800, Nepolean Bonaparte in an attempt to extend his french dominance sent a huge cavalry of soldiers to Haiti. This was an important war for Nepoleon because conquering Haiti would be the first step of invading the United States. As the European army reached Haiti they were struck by the Yellow Fever epidemic. The European army succumbed to this deadly disease while the opponent was somehow immune to it. How?
The yellow fever virus originated in Africa and Haiti army was being mainly led by African slaves who had developed immunity to the virus. European soldiers had to retreat and Haiti became an independent state. Interesting isn’t it! The world would have been the same if the epidemic did not force Nepolean to step back.
As promised earlier, here are my mantras of facing difficulties.
Struggling is the way of Life
I have written about it earlier and I want to emphasize it again. Challenges are the best teachers. You learn much more during tough times than otherwise. Of course, that does not mean that I enjoy tough times or find joy in current situations. I hope the coronavirus is soon tackled with.
As a popular quote goes, life is not a bed of roses and we have to constantly grapple with situations, problems, shortcoming etc. No struggle is a sign of stagnancy. So, accept whatever challenges life throws at you. Today it is the coronavirus, tomorrow it might be economic slump and world war III the day after. ‘Golden Era’, is a term coined for history books. There has never been a time where man did not have to face a difficult time. Take it in the stride and keep moving on.
When one door shuts another opens
Employment is going to be a major problem in the near future, at least that is what the experts say. And in the wake of current things I have to agree with the experts. But that does not have to mean that everything is lost. Maybe it is the opportunity for you to try something unorthodox, something different.
I am an avid podcast listener and was interested in the idea of creating podcasts. With the global business slowing down, I finally got the time and incentive to start making podcasts. As a matter of fact, I am a person who does not like hearing my own voice and could have not imagined narrating a podcast but I did. Like me, you might have a dream job that you always wanted to pursue but could not. That could be your plan to battle odds. Take that path, now is the time.
Give it your all
Lastly, when you make a plan to tackle your problem then go out on a limb. You have to immerse yourself in work. I am talking about giving your hundred percent. Chasing your dreams with a sense of accomplishment. A work begun is half done. So, if you have taken a step towards something constructive then be dogged. It will pay off sooner or later.
P.S – I hope you all enjoyed reading articles this week as much as I enjoyed writing them. Please let me know in the comment section of topics that you would like to read about.
